I have been thinking for some time now that it is time to replace my computer.
This morning, the screen just suddenly went black, and I haven't been able to get it to work since. I knew I relied heavily on my computer, but I didn't realize how heavily until this happened! I am thinking of all of the documents saved on my computer (like 15 future posts for this blog) that I don't have saved any where else. I know, I should have backed up.
So, now we are on the hunt for a new, faster computer. I am also going to try to get the other one repaired so I can retrieve all of my documents on the hard drive and let my son use it for school. I am keeping my fingers crossed that I will be able to do that.
For the next few days until I get the computer issue taken care of, I may not be posting as regularly although I will try not to let this glitch interrupt things too much.

Oh NO! I dread this possibility. I told my DH recently to start looking for an external hard drive so we can back up our computers.
You're smart to do that. I should have done that, especially since I knew the computer was on its last leg.
My desktop died earlier this year and I lost all of our diabetic forms, cheat sheets, logs, etc. And a year's worth of photos. I was devestated. And I now have an external hard drive for monthly backups ;)
Happy shopping!

I finally talked Scott into backing up all of his research, data, and writing for his thesis (it had simply never occurred to him that his zip drive could break or get corrupted).
Since he doesn't have an external hard drive and CDs can so easily break or be lost, he's been emailing himself all of his documents. This way, they are accessible from just about anywhere!
