I am having a no spending month this month, but I also have two kids under two who go through diapers like you wouldn't believe, so I tried to spend as little money as possible getting more.

1 Hydro 5 Razor = 8.97 - 4.00 Q, earned $4 ECBs

I had a CVS coupon for $10 off a $50 order and $2 ECBs.

Total OOP = 24.54

I saved $43.30, or 63.8%

I earned $12 ECBS, and I will send in a rebate for the full purchase price of $8.97 for the razor.

Great Deals at Jewel & CVS

This deal did not work out quite the way I had planned.

Transaction 1:

1 Bayer Contour meter = 19.99 – 10.00 Q = 9.99, earned $15 ECBs

I had $14.98 in ECBs, so my OOP was $2.71

However, when my ECBs printed, only $5 came up for the Contour meter instead of $15. I did not notice this until I paid for transaction 2 and it was much more expensive than I had planned without the additional $10 ECBs.

I had the $7 ECBs from transaction 1 to use, so my OOP was $13.30, way more than I had planned. I stepped away from the register and my first thought was, “I must REALLY be sleep deprived to think this was a good deal!” Then I realized the error with the Contour meter. The cashier printed a $10 ECB for me, so I went into the store with $14.98 in ECBs and walked out with $20.49 ECBs. I would have rather caught the mistake before I did transaction 2 so I would have only paid $3 OOP, but at least I did catch the error.

We will still need to run to the store later in the week to get some fresh fruits and vegetables.

CVS, 3/21/10

I haven't been to CVS in several weeks, and I was completely out of ECBs, but just last week I received a survey from CVS in my inbox. I completed it and received $5 ECBs. Here is how I rolled it:

Transaction 1:

1 pkg. Pampers $8.97 - 2.00 Q = 6.97

used $5 ECBs, paid $2.33, earned $3 ECBs

Transaction 2:

1 Colgate Total Advanced = 3.99 - 1.00 Q = 2.99

used $3 ECBs from Transaction 1, paid $0.54, earned $3.99 ECBs

Transaction 3:

1 pkg. Pampers $8.97 - 2.00 Q = 6.97

used $3.99 ECBs from Transaction 2, paid $3.79, earned $3 ECBs

I paid a total of $6.66 OOP and saved $23.93 or 78%.

CVS, 2/7/10

I had $10 ECBs to use up, and my son has to bring crackers to school this week, so I did the cracker deal.

3 boxes Wheat Thins = 5.97 - 1.00 Q = 4.97
2 boxes Ritz = 3.98
1 box pantyliners = 2.39

Total = 1.83 OOP after $10 ECB used. I earned $3 ECBs

The bigger challenge is that I have one solid block of $18 ECBs to use up by tomorrow. I am thinking about buying Pampers, but I am not sure yet because I will earn no ECBs for that transaction.

CVS, 1/10/10

I went to CVS with $17 in ECBs today and bought the following:

3 boxes Soy Joy = 18.00, earn $18 ECBs

1 small refill wipes = 1.99

1 bigger refill wipes = 2.99

Used $5/20 coupon and $17 ECBs.

Paid $1.97 OOP and saved $26.47. I left the store with $1 more ECB than when I went in with and saved 93%. Free food and nearly free wipes!

CVS, 1/03/10

Two weeks ago, I earned $4 ECBs for having an order over $20. When I went to CVS today, I also earned $2 ECBs for my fall spending. So, I used these "extra" ECBs to stock up on some things we needed.

Transaction 1
1 box Soy Joy = 6.09
Used $6 ECBs, earned $6 ECBs, paid $.09 OOP

Transaction 2:
1 roll wrapping paper (not pictured) $1.49

5 Palmolive dish detergents = 4.80
Total = 6.86, used $6 ECBs from transaction 1 and paid $.86 OOP

I bought all of the above for $.95 OOP and I haven't touched my regular ECBs. (I have $17.49 ECBs left.) That was a 96% savings!

Once again, my trip was about turning around ECBs. But all of the free Christmas items don't hurt! Thanks, CVS!

A Simple, Worthwhile CVS Trip

I had nearly $16 ECBs expiring in 2 days, and I didn't find much in the ad until I came across the contact deal. I got there bright and early this morning to buy two bottles at $8.99 each, and I got back $17.98 in ECBs and used up my expiring ones.

Total OOP = 2.41

CVS Trip 10/25/09 --Paid ZERO Out of Pocket!

I had a great trip to CVS. I had $17 in ECBs that were going to expire on Tuesday thanks to lackluster sales lately. I was able to turn over all of them and earn another $16 ECBs.

After coupons and ECBs, my total came to $6.06. However, I had a bottle of the recalled Children's Tylenol to return. I earned a $6.53 store credit for that. I already have another (not recalled) box at home, and I didn't want to buy more when it wasn't on sale, so I used the credit today.

I paid ZERO OOP for items that retailed $83.84. That was a good trip!

CVS--Diapers 75% off!

I stopped by CVS today to get the Scott toilet paper on sale. I had to get a raincheck for that because they were out, but it was so worth my trip!

They had diapers on clearance up front. I paid $3.75 each for the Playskool packs of diapers (60 diapers in a pack) and $4.75 for the Pampers (54 diapers in the pack). I had coupons for these items which would have made the deal even sweeter, but I didn't have them with me, and I was afraid if I went home to go get them, all the diapers would be sold by the time I got back.

I ended up with 8 packs of diapers for a little over $32 ($34.75 including tax.) That comes up to less than 8 cents per diaper!

CVS Trip, 9/27/09

Our pantry is very well stocked on personal care/hygiene items thanks to previous good sales at CVS, so I was glad to be able to stock up on some other items we were low on. I had $10 ECBs that were set to expire tomorrow, so it was an opportune time to buy laundry detergent. I spent much more OOP than I would like, but I doubled my ECBs in the process.

Tide detergent= 24.00 (-2--1.00 Qs from 8/30 & 9/27 P &G insert)
Puffs = 1.00 (earned 10 ECBs for Tide & Puffs)

I went to CVS on a tip from Money Saving Mom's post that Huggies Little Swimmers were dirt cheap in the summer clearance section. I didn't find those, but I did get some great summer clearance deals.

I had a quick, but worthwhile trip to CVS today.

Natural Instincts hair dye = 4.99 - 4.00 Q = .99 and earned 2.00 ECBs
1 pkg Pampers = 9.99 - 1.00 Q = 8.99

I had $12 ECBs and used 8 of them for this transaction.

I paid $3.71 OOP for merchandise valued at $99.68, a savings of 96%!

I earned $7 ECBs, so now I have a total of $11 ECBs to roll for next week. (I will probably stop in later in the week and get milk because that is also earning an ECB.)

It was a great week at CVS, but I noticed several little errors on my receipt when I came home. However, I think it all evened out in the end.

What a harried CVS trip! We just returned from vacation about 2 p.m., and, of course, my paper was stolen once again. (No, I am not going to renew my subscription. What is the point of supplying a thief with a free paper every week?) So, this trip was without the benefit of an ad or coupons. I will probably go back later in the week for more great deals after I have a chance to look through the ad and match coupons.
