Food Waste, 7/14

Ah, deep sigh. Today, my food waste is like the typical American's who throws more than $500 in grocery food in the garbage each year.

I have no excuse; worse yet, it is all produce we wasted. Sigh.

1/2 of an onion - .25
1/2 of a green pepper - .50
1/4 a bag of spinach - .75
2 small bunches of broccoli - 1.75

Total for the week - 3.25
Total food waste since February 1st -64.71

I would be scared to know how much I have wasted moneywise. I am sooooooo guilty it is embarrassing. How do you figure it all out?

kewkew--I post my grocery shopping trips here each week, so I tend to remember how much I paid for items (roughly). Adding it up has been sobering because I tended not to put a dollar figure in my mind when I threw out waste before I started tracking it. Now I see it as dollar bills I am throwing in the trash.
