I read somewhere that the average family wastes 25% of the food they purchase.
We are not that bad, but I long for the empty table I had a few weeks ago with no food waste.
This week we wasted a block of tofu that I put in the baby's food for several days. Then I forgot to change the water for several days and it was in the refrigerator for over a week, so, I decided it was better to be safe than sorry.
I needed avocado last week, but I could only find them in bags of four. We used one for the Guacamole Salad. We love avocado, so why I didn't just slice them up to eat with our other meals, I don't know. This was just dumb waste.

I needed an avacado for a recipe I was making last week. I bought two. I never did make said recipe and both avacado's went bad and had to be thrown out. I was so mad at myself for being so wasteful.
I have dumb waste sometimes too...esp. with produce, it seems. I always think to myself, "Why did I not just cut that up and eat it??"
Us too! In fact, you've reminded me we have an avocado sitting in the fruit bowl and half of one in the 'fridge.
I might make guacamole for lunch before it goes off.
I have the same issue with Tofu; it seems to go off so quickly :(
